A bestseller with 250,000 copies sold in France, this is the latest full-length novel from Bernard Werber. Having reached its limits through plague, terrorism, and war, human civilization is on the brink of collapse — so what will take its place? Bestselling author Bernard Werber's newest novel, Civilization (two volumes), has been published by Open Books in a translation by Jeon Mi-yeon, a specialist translator of French literature. The novel is set in a world ravaged by terrorism and war, where billions have died from a pandemic. When the book was first published in France in 2019, this might have seemed like just another common dystopian backdrop — but living through the age of COVID-19, we now find this setting feels all the more vivid and real. Civilization takes place in a world where human civilization has been pushed to the brink, and follows the adventures of Bastet, the cat protagonist from Cats. The cats' immediate goal is to survive in harsh conditions and fend off the attacks of an exponentially growing horde of rats — but their ultimate goal is to build a new civilization to replace that of humankind. Along the way, they encounter pigs, cows, dogs, pigeons, and other animals, who become allies or enemies in turn. Will Bastet succeed in fostering communication and cooperation among different animal species to achieve her goal? This novel is also a coming-of-age story for the female cat Bastet — more charming and lovable than any of Werber's previous protagonists, with clear strengths and flaws alike. Join Bastet on her bold quest to build a civilization of her own. A Message to Humanity, Told Through the Adventures of Cats. While Civilization can be read as a standalone work, it originally began as a continuation of Cats. Together, Cats and Civilization are planned as part of a trilogy. Werber has long used animals like ants and cats, as well as transcendent beings like gods and angels, to portray the human world from fresh perspectives. In this trilogy — where humans play only supporting roles while animals take the lead — the author repeatedly emphasizes the idea that 'this world does not belong to humans alone.' Many of the main animal characters in this novel, including the cat Pythagoras and the rat Tamerlane, were once laboratory animals kept in cages. In the 'Trial of Humanity' held by the pigs, animals who have suffered for the sake of human cuisine and entertainment take the stand one by one to testify. Through the voices of animals, the author conveys — sometimes seriously, sometimes humorously — a deeper critique that goes beyond animal rights, calling for an end to human-centered thinking. Also worth noting: The Encyclopedia of Relative and Absolute Knowledge featured within the book! Fans of Werber will not want to miss the character Romain Wells in this new work. He is a descendant of Edmond Wells, creator of the Encyclopedia of Relative and Absolute Knowledge, and a scientist striving to preserve knowledge in a ruined world. Characters bearing the Wells surname have appeared throughout Werber's works, from Edmond Wells in Empire of the Ants to Gabriel Wells in Death. In this story, Romain Wells is shown creating an 'expanded edition' of the original encyclopedia by adding data from sources like the Encyclopedia Britannica and Wikipedia. Tracing the legacy of the Wells family, who have accompanied Werber's fictional universe for decades, and discovering the encyclopedia's 'expanded edition' adds another layer of enjoyment to this novel.

Description

Description

Description: Step into the lively lecture hall of Professor Michael Sandel, the world's foremost scholar on the theory of justice! Justice: What's the Right Thing to Do? is the signature work of political philosopher Michael Sandel, who became the youngest professor at Harvard University at the age of 27 and gained worldwide recognition after publishing Liberalism and the Limits of Justice, a critique of John Rawls's theory of justice. Based on his actual Harvard course 'Justice,' this book draws from what remains one of the most popular and influential courses at Harvard University to this day. Covering real-world issues such as bailouts, military conscription, and surrogate motherhood, as well as thought experiments like the runaway trolley problem and tests that measure the cost of pain, the book critically examines how great thinkers have approached the concept of 'justice.' For example, the author explains that while Bentham and Mill's utilitarianism supports decisions that benefit the majority, it has moral limitations when it comes to issues of human dignity. However, the author does not offer a definitive answer about what justice truly is. Instead, by showing readers that they too can stand shoulder to shoulder with great thinkers and develop their own reasoning, the book offers a groundbreaking framework for readers to revise and refine their own views on justice, ultimately helping them understand 'what' they believe and 'why.' A Word from Our Book Sommelier! Through a range of debates—such as whether the government should tax the rich to help the poor, whether there are times when telling the truth is wrong, and whether there are times when killing can be morally justified—Professor Sandel presents dramatic and challenging ideas, clearly demonstrating that understanding philosophy leads to a clearer grasp of politics, morality, and one's own convictions. This book faithfully captures his storytelling, which connects the great questions of political philosophy to today's most pressing dilemmas and has captivated generations of Harvard students.

Description

Description: At the end of human civilization, a new story begins!

A bestselling new novel by Bernard Werber, with over 250,000 copies sold in France

Humanity's civilization has reached its limits amid plague, terrorism, and war. Kennedy Jr. in July 1999. As a novice pilot, he became disoriented in bad weather and crashed. To understand that accident, I flew with a professional pilot in the same type of aircraft, through bad weather, experiencing a steep dive myself. It wasn't a pointless exercise—it was something I had to do. Only then could I truly understand what it means for a plane to crash. Simply knowing the sequence of events wasn't enough. (pp. 10–11)

The secret to finding ideas is believing that everyone and everything has a story only they can tell. It's called a "secret," but in reality, holding on to that belief is very difficult. We instinctively assume that the people, objects, and events around us are not interesting. That's why we flip through ten TV channels before finally stopping on the eleventh. At the bookstore, we thumb through a dozen novels before finally choosing just one. We filter, we rank, we judge. This is, in fact, natural behavior—there is simply too much in the world. (p. 13)

Frick explained, "Immigrants worried about looking shabby, so many of them made their own clothes to imitate the latest fashions—fitting themselves into the image of Americans. That's when phrases like 'clothes make the man' and 'first impressions matter' came about." In the end, the question "Does she or doesn't she?" is one that arises in an age when we can no longer tell not just someone's natural hair color, but their true self. What this slogan really means isn't "Does she dye it or not?" but simply "Is she or isn't she?"—in other words, "Is she a housewife or not?" (pp. 25–26)

Why did the Veg-O-Matic sell like hotcakes? First, consumers wanted a product that made it easier to cut vegetables. Beyond that, the Veg-O-Matic perfectly united the medium (television) with the message (the product). In truth, it was an extremely simple product: you placed a potato on the mold and pressed down, and it was ready to be made into fries. There were no buttons to push, no hidden complicated mechanisms. A two-minute demonstration was enough to dispel any fear of an unfamiliar new product. And simply pointing a camera at a vegetable being sliced was enough to instantly capture viewers' attention. In the end, television turned products into stars more effectively than even the best salesman ever could. May the Korean church that reads the Bible build the lives of believers upon the Word (Psalm 119:28)!

[Publishing History of This Book]
This Bible-reading guide was created over 15 years of preparation beginning in 1995, through 16 rounds of lectures and a 2-year production process. In 2010, the Ezra Ministry Institute published it under the title "A 90-Day Bible Reading from the Perspective of God's Kingdom: The Word Becomes Life." In 2012, Duranno Press republished it as "A 90-Day Bible Reading from the Perspective of God's Kingdom: Tonggeun Tongdok," which went through 52 printings by January 2017. Afterward, Ezra Publishing released a newly revised edition once again titled "A 90-Day Bible Reading from the Perspective of God's Kingdom: The Word Becomes Life."

[Why Read the Bible Through in Its Entirety?]
A holistic understanding of the Bible is the foundation of all faith and spiritual life. Without a proper, unified understanding of Scripture, one builds the house of faith on sand (Matthew 7:24-27). This is why even those who have attended church for many years often live without real transformation. True change does not come from church events or programs, but from the "Word." This Word was present at creation, and it continues today to bring about the work of "re-creation" (restoration). Therefore, if we do not read and understand the Word, no real change will come to our spiritual lives. That "Word" is the Bible itself, and a life of faith that does not read the Bible is not truly a life of faith — it may simply be a life of "churchgoing." Genuine transformation comes only through the Word. That is why this book is titled "The Word Becomes Life."

[Read the Bible with a Holistic Understanding! — To Live a Life Under God's Rule]
[Redemptive-Historical Bible Reading That Restores God's Kingdom]
The Korean church's fervor has long centered on prayer and Bible study, and in the six-plus years since this book's original publication, gatherings for reading through the Bible have continued to grow both within Korea and among Korean immigrant churches abroad. And yet, why does the church in the world remain unchanged, even though God's Word is clearly power and might? Pastor Ju Hae-hong explains that this is because we are not reading the Bible from the perspective of God's Kingdom. When we read Scripture through the lens of God's Kingdom, we are naturally transformed from a self-centered life (a life ruled by human effort) into a God-centered life (a life obedient to God's rule). For Christians who have become God's people, all the suffering in life stems from trying to solve our own problems through human effort alone. That is why Christians must return to the Word and to God's will, pursuing a life under His rule. This is the holy life — a life set apart. Look at our churches: how often, when problems arise within the church, do we try to resolve them through human effort (our own thoughts, wisdom, and experience) rather than through God's rule... To turn a life of human effort back into a life under God's rule requires reading the Bible rightly. This is the holistic reading of Scripture, with God's Kingdom at its core. The Bible carries the message that God builds up our lives and rightly restores His Kingdom. When we read the Bible from the perspective of God's Kingdom, it comes alive within us and brings about real transformation. To read the Bible holistically means to grasp its overarching thread as we read.

[Features of This Book]
The contents of the Bible have been reorganized according to their historical and chronological flow. To read the Bible with genuine interest, one should read both the Storyline (following the narrative) and the Plotline (reading for message) together. In this book, "reading by Storyline" means reconstructing the content according to the chronological flow of biblical history, while "reading by Plotline" means reading the passages related to the themes or background of that era.

For example, when reading the story of David (David's Storyline), one reads 2 Samuel together with the related passages in Chronicles and the Psalms written in connection with his circumstances. Reading the Bible this way allows readers to understand both the Storyline according to chronological flow and the Context of that era. To grasp the poetic understanding, we search for the overarching thread of Scripture.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0831/9788/6692/files/ED_86_B5_ED_81_B0_ED_86_B5_EB_8F_85.jpg?v=1786421636
연금술사
The Alchemist
Description

■ A legendary bestseller read by 20 million readers worldwide

The Alchemist, the acclaimed novel by internationally bestselling author Paulo Coelho, has been published by Munhakdongne in a translation by Choi Jeong-su. Shaping profound insight about life into one beautiful story, The Alchemist is a noble testament to the importance of listening to the voice of your heart, and a message of hope and joy that blesses everyone who dares to face their own true dreams.

■ The soul's alchemy in search of one's 'Personal Legend'

What is alchemy, really? Is it merely the mysterious process of turning iron or lead into gold? This story says no. True alchemy is the path to piercing through the universal language that connects all things and reaching the ultimate 'One'—and ultimately, living out one's true destiny, one's own Personal Legend. The heart always tells us to 'live your Personal Legend.'

Santiago, an ordinary young shepherd, opens his heart to this whisper and sets out on a journey to find his treasure. Along the way he meets a gypsy woman, an old king, a thief, an alchemist-chemist, camel drivers, and his beautiful love Fatima; he faces the absolute silence of the desert and the threat of death, and finally meets the alchemist himself before finding his treasure. His dramatic and arduous journey closely mirrors the actual process of alchemy carried out in the alchemist's furnace to obtain the 'Philosopher's Stone,' adding a sense of wonder and deep emotion to the story.

Through this long and difficult alchemical journey, Santiago comes to understand the 'one language' that connects with all things, finally becoming an alchemist of the soul. But perhaps, in truth, every moment spent pursuing a dream is itself a dazzling moment of pure gold—a moment of meeting the language of all things. In that sense, the joy of alchemy that Santiago reaches belongs to everyone who refuses to forget their dreams.
Description: Unlike existing English-Korean dictionaries, this is a completely new kind of {prescription} dictionary aimed at curing the long-ailing state of English education. It captures the English that Americans actually use in everyday life in the 21st century—tracing word origins, organizing entries by derivative forms, and explaining them in a narrative style—all rendered through [Hangul pronunciation], [Hangul interpretation], [alternative Hangul expressions], and [Korean-language prescriptions] so that ordinary Korean readers can easily understand them.

Even those born in Korea now find it hard to get by without knowing English. America's influence, in particular, is enormous. Yet American English cannot simply be adopted as Korea's national language. Is there no way to master American English while also enriching the Korean language? Is there no secret to learning English a little more easily?

It is clear that compiler Lee Won-Taek wrestled with this question for a long time. Believing that American English has been diverging considerably from British English, and that it is American-style English that Koreans need most, he devotes a great deal of space in this dictionary to American culture and civilization. Like a scientist, he brings sharp observation, precise description, and fair judgment; like a writer, he brings careful consideration, empathy, and fresh creativity.

English-Korean dictionaries published until now have tended to feel cookie-cutter, all cut from the same cloth. Lee Won-Taek, however, boldly broke free of that old mold, reaching what might fairly be called the level of a true pioneer. In the compiler's own words, this book was written with the spirit of "go for broke"—like a wild horse cutting across the open sky—making it a single work of sweeping, encyclopedic scholarship.
Description
★ A recurring New York Times bestseller, and a surprise online bookstore hit! ★
The healing book chosen by Milanonna and LE SSERAFIM's Huh Yunjin!

"Ppalli, ppalli" (hurry, hurry) — these two words capture the essence of Korean culture. Driven by this very spirit, Korea's economy and technology have grown at a breathtaking pace. But in the gaps left by such rapid development, many important values have been neglected, and today, alarm bells are ringing for the mental health of Koreans. In fact, a survey of Korean office workers in their 30s found that 7 out of 10 have experienced burnout.

But this emotional pain may not simply stem from the responsibilities and stress of adulthood. Often, it traces back to childhood wounds left unattended during a rapidly changing era. The wounded inner child, unable to grow up properly, hides deep within and continues to influence us even as adults. This unhealed inner child can suddenly surface in psychological struggles, relationships, and family dynamics. That's why healing this inner child is essential to resolving deep emotional pain.

Based on this healing process, Homecoming: Reclaiming and Championing Your Inner Child offers a genuine path to healing the inner child. Upon its original release, the book made waves by appearing on the New York Times bestseller list for consecutive weeks. It also saw a remarkable surge in popularity on Korean online bookstores, and now, after 20 years, it returns to readers in a beautifully refreshed cover edition thanks to its enduring appeal.

Homecoming offers modern readers—who have grown up physically while their childhood wounds remain unhealed—a way to reconnect with their inner child and offer them warmth and care. Part 1 explores how this inner child shapes your life in ways you may not realize. Part 2 walks through each stage of childhood development, examining what was needed for healthy growth and what may have been missing. Included questionnaires allow readers to check whether their inner child's needs were met at each stage.

Once readers reconnect with their inner child, Part 3 offers practical exercises to help that child continue to grow—such as learning to set healthy boundaries to protect the inner child and discovering proper ways to nurture oneself. Finally, Part 4 shows how a healed inner child can transform into a truly "wonder child," guiding readers to bring that child's creative and transformative power into real life.

Everyone heals at their own pace—some slowly, some more quickly. What matters most is embracing your inner child with sincerity, at your own pace. In a world that constantly urges us to go "faster, faster," let's take time to meet the inner child who got left behind. Only when we truly meet and embrace that child can remarkable healing begin.

Translator's Preface
Author's Preface

Part 1: The Problem of the Wounded Inner Child
Introduction
1. At the heart of this effort was the Harvard Study of Adult Development, the longest-running longitudinal study of adult development ever conducted.

The conclusion reached in the 21st century was that happiness depends on how many of the seven controllable conditions of happiness a person establishes before age 50 — and that "the most important thing in life is relationships, and happiness, in the end, is love."

Over the course of the study, researchers also incorporated 456 men from disadvantaged backgrounds and 90 gifted women, bringing the total number of subjects to 814. Being 'prospective' means that, rather than subjects recalling their 20s while in their 50s, events were recorded as they happened — experiences in one's 20s documented in one's 20s, experiences in one's 50s documented in one's 50s.

Completing such a study requires enormous resources, persistent researchers, and the ongoing cooperation of participants — no easy feat. Yet the Harvard research team has carried on this work for over 70 years, and it will only come to a close when the last surviving participant passes away.

In June 2009, Joshua Wolf Shenk, a writer for the prestigious American monthly The Atlantic, spent a month closely reporting on the previously unpublished archives of the Harvard Study of Adult Development and its lead researcher, Professor George Vaillant. The resulting in-depth article, "What Makes Us Happy?", generated significant attention alongside Vaillant's original book (this very book), published in 2002. After the prestigious literary publisher Portobello released the English edition in 2015, the novel became a sensation, reaching No. 1 on the fiction bestseller list at the UK's Foyles bookstore. Following the 2016 US publication by Hogarth, the literary imprint of Penguin Random House—one of America's largest publishing groups—the novel received glowing reviews from major outlets including The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Chicago Tribune, and Library Journal. Publishers Weekly named The Vegetarian the top pick among its 'Most Anticipated Novels of Spring 2016,' quickly placing it at the center of literary attention. That same year, it went on to win the 2016 International Booker Prize, cementing its status as a truly global work of literature.

Part One, 'The Vegetarian,' is narrated from the perspective of Yeong-hye's husband, 'I.' Haunted by a childhood memory of killing a dog that had bitten her leg, Yeong-hye is one day gripped by a horrifying vision in a dream and begins to reject eating meat. Unable to understand her behavior, 'I' enlists her family's help to try to stop her. At a housewarming party at her sister In-hye's home, Yeong-hye again refuses to eat meat, and when her displeased father tries to force meat into her mouth, Yeong-hye slashes her wrist on the spot.

Part Two, 'Mongolian Mark,' unfolds from the perspective of In-hye's husband—Yeong-hye's brother-in-law—a video artist referred to as 'I.' After hearing from his wife In-hye that Yeong-hye still has a Mongolian mark on her hip, 'I' becomes consumed with desire for her body. He approaches Yeong-hye and asks her to model for a video art piece. Eventually, 'I' paints flowers on his own body, becomes physically intimate with Yeong-hye while filming the video piece, and the next day his wife discovers the two of them naked.

Part Three, 'Flaming Trees,' is told from the perspective of In-hye, who is left to care for Yeong-hye after the rest of the family has turned away from her. In-hye visits Yeong-hye, who has stopped eating and even refuses IV fluids, withering away like a tree branch. Yeong-hye tells her that she will soon become a tree. Bound by the memory of violence imprinted in her childhood, Yeong-hye—who wholly rejects eating meat and dreams of becoming a tree—seems to be seeking to break the cycle of violence and become a harmless being that causes no injury to any other living thing.

The author, who has continually questioned the essence of humanity and delved deeply into the theme of 'pain,' shared the following in the author's note for this new edition: 'I confess I have held complicated feelings about this book. (...) But now, with gray hairs at my temples and a clearer mind than ever, I have the strength to embrace this novel—a book still filled with vivid pain and questions.' (from the newly written author's note)

Meanwhile, The Vegetarian has had its publishing rights sold to more than 40 countries to date. This past September, it was adapted into a stage play and performed at the National Theater Company of Korea, and it is set to meet international audiences in December at the Théâtre de Liège in Belgium.

Description

The best handwriting is your own handwriting. Simply tidying up the handwriting you already have can create a wonderful personal style. Follow along for four weeks, starting with careful practice of standard block letters, and create handwriting that's both distinctive and beautiful!

This isn't about simply copying someone else's pretty handwriting. Nor is it about dully tracing generic computer fonts. This book is for anyone who wants their everyday handwriting to look a little neater and prettier — even if you're not aiming to create elaborate calligraphy art. Starting from the basics, you'll refine your own handwriting step by step. Going back to the way you first learned to write, you'll begin by holding your pen correctly and learning the shapes of Hangul, then progress through a 4-week program until you're able to write lovely message cards in a style that suits you. The book also includes the author's popular tips — always a hit on her Instagram — for writing in diaries and travel journals.

Create Your Own Distinctive, Beautiful Handwriting in Just 4 Weeks
Hawoting Calli's Kind and Thorough Handwriting Class
From Correcting Messy Handwriting To Calligraphy — Your Handwriting Will Truly Change!

Embarrassed by your handwriting? Did you write beautifully back in school, but now, from lack of practice, it just doesn't look the way it used to? As the world has grown more digital, it seems poor handwriting has become more common. But even in this age of typing, nothing can replace the unique charm of handwriting. Handwriting carries so much of the person who wrote it, along with an analog warmth and sense of comfort that typed text simply can't match. That's why so many people still want to write beautifully.

Not everyone who wants nicer handwriting wants to create fancy calligraphy. Writing one gorgeous sentence is nice, but it's far more meaningful when your everyday, real handwriting actually changes. Simply writing neatly is enough to create a distinctive, attractive style — and that in itself can become a form of calligraphy. Don't overthink it. If you practice diligently, letter by letter, from beginning to end of this book, your handwriting can truly change.

A 4-Week Program to Build a Strong Foundation and Discover Your Own Handwriting
Even messy, difficult handwriting can improve.

In Week 1, you'll start from the very beginning, as if learning to write for the first time — starting with how to hold your pen. You'll study the shapes of standard Hangul characters and practice writing one letter at a time neatly inside a grid, correcting the imbalance between consonants and vowels that often creeps in unnoticed. Many people with messy handwriting write too quickly, or focus on just one letter at a time instead of looking at the whole word or sentence.

In Weeks 2 and 3, you'll gradually widen your focus from short one- or two-letter words to longer sentences, practicing writing neatly and evenly. By writing slowly in large letters, you'll come to understand your own strengths and weaknesses and get a feel for letter proportions. There's also a fun exercise where you experiment with different shapes for consonants and vowels to discover the style that best suits you. Once you find a style you like, keep practicing with it.

In Week 4, you'll write sentences in various layouts sized for message cards, turning your own handwriting into a form of calligraphy. The book also includes handy tips for using your handwriting in everyday life — perfect for gifts for family and friends, or for writing cards.

At the end, the author shares her own methods for writing diaries and travel journals by hand — one of the most popular features on her Instagram. The book includes a recommended schedule: five days a week for four weeks, so you can complete the entire book. Growing up into adulthood, she found the world to be a cold and indifferent place—one where people drew unnecessary lines between each other, and even ordinary people seemed to enjoy discrimination and contempt whenever given the chance. Unable to understand why she, who had done nothing wrong, should feel inferior or ashamed, she turned to books and eventually found her own answers in sociology and social psychology. She came to the conclusion that personal unhappiness and anxiety don't arise from some internal chemical process, but from our relationships with society and others. The insights she gained became the essays that make up 'I Decided to Live as Myself.'

In this book, the author expresses—with warmth and precision—why we should embrace ourselves exactly as we are, and how to actually live that way. At the end of each essay, a playful and endearing illustration adds an extra layer of meaning, helping her message land even more fully. This revised and expanded edition carries forward that same distinctive charm. With five years having passed since the original publication, outdated writing and illustrations have been removed and replaced with new ones, while the remaining original content has been carefully refined and polished to improve overall quality.

In the closing 'Acknowledgments,' the author confesses that this book, published five years ago, became a guiding compass for her own heart as well. Having tried to live by its message, she says it has since become part of who she is—and that her inner world has grown much healthier as a result. Reading this book, you can experience the same refreshing sense of relief the author once felt. The countless reader reviews already speak to that truth.

A Book for Every Modern Adult Exhausted by Making a Living and Growing Up in a Cold World

'I Decided to Live as Myself'—a book that cheers you on with its whole heart—has been beloved for so long because it precisely identifies why our hearts suffer. It tells the everyday stories we've all experienced at one point or another, in work or in relationships, taking the small things we usually brush past and putting them center stage, asking 'why?' again and again. In doing so, it reveals the emotional undercurrents hidden beneath the surface of everyday events, helping readers clearly understand what has been weighing on them all along.

More than that, the book doesn't stop at simply acknowledging and empathizing with your feelings—it also offers real ways to work through these struggles, giving readers both comfort and clarity at once. It offers quiet encouragement and support to ordinary people living in these times, and because it feels like it truly understands you, like it's exactly the story you needed to hear, readers find themselves deeply moved.

"100% relatable! It's like this book was written just for me."
"The author's writing is so clear and refreshing, yet so delicate—it's genuinely comforting."
"Is this what they mean by feeling like a weight has been lifted?"
"Reading it makes my heart feel healthier."

It's no wonder reviews like these are everywhere. Above all, many readers say it feels like 'being cheered on with someone's whole heart'—and that's because the author truly wrote this book with sincere care for readers who might be struggling with feelings similar to her own. That same spirit remained completely unchanged throughout the work on this revised and expanded edition. Now sturdier and even more thoughtful, 'I Decided to Live as Myself' will stand by you and cheer on your life.
Look for Just 3 Minutes and Your Eyes Get Better - The Miracle 'Eye Chart' That Took the World by Storm
Description: The miracle of 3 minutes a day that makes nearsightedness and presbyopia disappear — the miracle 'eye chart' that took the world by storm. The Korean edition of the scientifically proven 'Gabor Eye' vision improvement method has arrived! The 'miracle eye chart' that improves your eyesight with just 3 minutes of looking trains both the eye muscles and the brain at the same time, improving presbyopia and nearsightedness! How do professional baseball players accurately see and hit a ball traveling at 160 km/h? One of the vision training methods used by baseball players is called 'Gabor Eye Training.' It's a method that trains the eyes and brain simultaneously using the 'Gabor patch,' invented by Nobel Prize-winning physicist Dr. Dennis Gabor. This is famous as the only vision improvement method scientifically proven effective through actual experiments at the University of California. In fact, experiments conducted on men and women of various ages, including students and the elderly, showed improved vision in all subjects. Players from one professional baseball team who trained consistently for two months saw their vision improve to as much as 3.0. This vision improvement method, which caused a worldwide sensation, was even featured in The New York Times as 'training that trains the brain to improve presbyopia and nearsightedness.' If we compare our eyes to a camera, the eyeball is the lens, and the brain is the device that converts the image information coming through the lens into electrical signals. Gabor Eye Training works by having you find matching pairs of Gabor patches like a game, training both the eye's focusing muscles and the brain's visual areas at the same time to help improve vision. It's known that practicing for just about 3 minutes a day can not only improve eyesight but also train the brain to help prevent dementia and improve memory and concentration. The 'Gabor Eye' training looks simple but has amazing effects — eyes that have gotten worse can get better again! The book includes a total of 28 'Gabor patch' sheets. You can use whichever sheet you'd like to try, in any order, to do the training. Since it's a simple method of matching stripes with the same pattern, you can enjoy it like a game. In addition to Gabor Eye Training using patches, the book also introduces other vision improvement methods such as 'Hot Eye,' 'Near-Far Stretching,' and the 'Cloud Gazing Method.' With the simple and easy vision improvement methods introduced in this book, readers will be able to directly experience amazing results themselves. People who have tried Gabor Eye after reading this book continue to share amazing reviews even now. They report that their nearsightedness and presbyopia improved, their vision improved to a surprising degree, and their eyes—which were often tired and stiff—felt lighter. One woman in her 50s who tried it was amazed that after her vision improved, even her headaches and shoulder stiffness went away, and a 77-year-old man was delighted that his vision in both eyes—which he had hoped would simply not get worse—improved by 0.2 in each eye. Whether it's lutein or marigold extract, 'eye health' is the biggest topic on every home shopping channel these days. But honestly, even after trying all sorts of things said to be good for the eyes, or using eye massage devices, it doesn't really feel like your eyes get more comfortable or your vision improves. Throughout our waking hours, our eyes never get a moment's rest, constantly reading small text on PCs, smartphones, and tablets. Under attack from blue light, our corneas get damaged, and even when our eyes are blurry and sore from dry eye syndrome, we often just endure it without any real solution. This concern is even greater for parents of elementary, middle, or high school children whose nearsightedness is rapidly progressing as they grow. These days, cases of presbyopia are rapidly increasing even among people in their 30s, so being young is no guarantee of safety either. As the saying goes, if the body is worth a thousand nyang, the eyes are worth nine hundred of it—so let's use this simple 3-minute daily training to relieve blurriness, dryness, and fatigue, and escape from presbyopia and nearsightedness. A seemingly unbelievable 3-minute-a-day magic! A proven, miraculous vision improvement method. This book introduces 'Gabor Eye,' a vision improvement method that is easy and simple enough to practice consistently, with effects that have been scientifically verified. By practicing Gabor Eye—using the 'Gabor patch' invented by Nobel Prize-winning physicist Dr. Dennis Gabor to train like a game—your eyesight can improve with just 3 minutes a day. Reviews are overflowing not only with improvements in nearsightedness and presbyopia, but also with improved memory and concentration, and relief from headaches and shoulder stiffness. This book mocks the traditional 40-year plan of working yourself to the bone, scrimping and saving for decades, only to become wealthy by the time you're in a wheelchair. Instead, it offers a concrete method for becoming rich and retiring while you're still young.

Those who redrew their financial map after learning about the "Fastlane" all say the same thing:

"After learning the laws of the fastlane, I finally understood why I was always struggling with money, and I decided to break free from that kind of life. Four years later, I had quadrupled my assets."

"Now I know that becoming rich requires neither wealthy parents nor luck. All you need is knowledge about how to make money. And the Fastlane gave me that knowledge."

Don't envy the millionaire in a wheelchair! Free yourself from work and money while you're young, and enjoy life!

For those of you working like a slave five days a week just to rest two days so you can work like a slave again — switch lanes to "The Millionaire Fastlane," the fastest path to wealth, as revealed by a billionaire in his 30s!

Wealth is not an abstract concept. The happiest moments of my life were when I truly felt real wealth in my body. Can you guess when that was? It wasn't the day I drove my first Lamborghini off the lot. It wasn't the day I moved into a mansion, or the day I sold my company for millions of dollars. Wealth isn't material possessions, money, or "things" — it's made up of the 3 Fs. The 3 Fs are the three elements of wealth: Family (relationships), Fitness (health), and Freedom (choice). When the 3 Fs are fulfilled, you can feel true wealth. In other words, you can find happiness. —p.64

You are selling your freedom to buy freedom. To make money at a job, you must give up your time, and you can never escape the terrible cycle of trading 5 days for 2. Now let's replace the word "time" with "life." At a job, you sell your life to make money. If you work, you earn money; if you don't work, you don't. Who came up with this leech-like formula? —p.100

According to the Law of Influence, to earn millions of dollars, you must influence millions of people. How can you influence millions of people? People say business opportunities are everywhere, but most of them aren't on the fastlane. If you run a barbershop offering $10 haircuts, can you logically serve millions of people? To earn millions of dollars, you must serve millions of people. No matter how good your service is, if your path doesn't extend in the direction of influence, it will be hard to build wealth — because influence is the gatekeeper of wealth. —p.262
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0831/9788/6692/files/screen_shot_2020-01-30_at_3.51.43_pm.jpg?v=1786423773
해빗-내-안의-충동을-이겨내는-습관-설계의-법칙
Habit: The Rules of Habit Design to Overcome Your Inner Impulses
Description

"Are you a habit designer, or a chronic effort addict?"
The definitive answer from cutting-edge brain science and psychology on the power of "staying the course"

★★★ Published and translated in 11 countries worldwide ★★★
★★★ The one book endorsed by Cass Sunstein, author of Nudge ★★★
★★★ The culmination of 30 years of research into human behavior, spanning neuroscience and psychology ★★★

"This book contains the one weapon that can replace GRIT!" — Angela Duckworth

Many people push themselves through pain in pursuit of their goals. Gritting their teeth, they repeatedly choose a life of "enduring." But is living this harshly and painfully really the best way?

Wendy Wood, who has spent over 30 years researching the roots of human behavior, advises that instead of relying on willpower—which is quickly depleted—we should borrow the power of "habit science" by slightly adjusting the conditions around us so that we achieve our goals automatically. In Habit, Wood combines neuroscience and psychology to scientifically analyze how habits form and function, ultimately seeking to answer one question: "What makes human behavior persist?"

Wendy Wood is currently one of the most closely watched researchers in the field of habit science worldwide, and a human behavior expert who has collaborated with world-renowned psychologists such as Angela Duckworth and Adam Grant. One group relied solely on their own "willpower" to complete the task. The other group first organized their surrounding environment to create conditions favorable to studying, before beginning the assignment in earnest. A week later, when the two groups' results were compared, the group that had properly controlled their environment and situation in advance scored far higher than the group that relied on willpower alone. All they did was block Facebook, keep their smartphones in their bags, and study at the library instead of at home—yet the students who studied less but managed their environment significantly outperformed those who relied on sheer willpower.

According to the results of this actual experiment conducted with students at the University of Pennsylvania, the students who put in less effort but achieved higher grades did so by identifying and removing the "friction" that interfered with their study habits, then simply continuing to study without straining or struggling.

Wendy Wood, who has spent her career studying the power of situations over human behavior, argues that by deliberately manipulating small everyday conditions, we can design an entirely new life. She asserts that the reason we always try our best yet quickly become discouraged and slide back to where we started is that we fixate too much on "goals" and "motivation."

There is a fascinating experiment that demonstrates this. Ordinary people were given the same task—"morning running"—and researchers analyzed the difference between those who formed a habit of running regularly, three or more times a week, and those who never managed to run even once a month. The first group responded sensitively to their environment—the running track, the park, and other physical locations. The second group, who never ran at all, obsessed excessively over reasons they had to run, such as "losing weight," "training for a marathon," or "getting in shape." They clung only to goals and rewards, as if motivation were an absolute prerequisite for going outside to run.

"Your willpower cools faster than a freshly brewed cup of coffee!"
The miraculous life changes created by the hidden 43% of your unconscious mind

Wendy Wood's research team was the first in academia to discover that as much as 43% of our daily lives is governed by habit...
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0831/9788/6692/files/screen_shot_2020-01-30_at_5.12.59_pm.jpg?v=1786423776
아몬드
Almond
Description

The two great keywords that define humanity — "emotion" and "love"! A special and heartwarming coming-of-age story about a unique boy who cannot feel emotions.

Seon Yunjae was born with alexithymia — the inability to express or feel emotions — due to an unusually small amygdala, also known as the "almond." Raised safely under the love and protection of his mother and grandmother, Yunjae's life takes a tragic turn on his 16th birthday, Christmas Eve, when he loses both of them in a devastating accident. Left alone and branded a monster by a prejudiced world, Yunjae meets another "monster," Gon, and his fate begins to change.

Gon, who endured a tragic childhood and grew crooked and twisted as a result, actually possesses a kinder and more fragile heart than anyone else. The two boys, who see each other without prejudice, build a rare and special friendship that others cannot understand. But even this bond is intertwined with the beginning of another tragedy — will the two of them ever be able to fully step into the world?

"Almond" portrays the friendship, growth, love, and humanity experienced by a boy without emotions, revealing just how burdensome yet precious the tool of communication we call "emotion" truly is. Yunjae's journey — growing through the love of his mother and grandmother, and his connections with characters like Dr. Shim, Gon, and Dora — will melt readers' frozen hearts and leave a lasting warmth of empathy long after the book is closed.

Through Yunjae's flat, emotionless narration, readers come to feel the full spectrum of emotions that Yunjae himself cannot. Amid a narrative that overwhelms with the weight and subtlety of emotion, and the pain and wonder of growing up, readers come to fully understand and empathize with Yunjae and Gon — two boys who, in reality, might simply be seen as troubled and best avoided. Through Yunjae's story — growing up viewing the world with a purity and lack of prejudice that only someone without emotions could have — readers will experience a bittersweet spectrum of feeling and be deeply moved.

The Return of an All-Time Steady Seller with Over 1 Million Copies Sold, Beloved by Teens, Parents, and Adults Alike!

"Almond" first debuted as the winner of the 2017 Changbi Prize for Youth Literature. Though categorized as a young adult novel, it appealed strongly to adult readers, teachers, and parents alike, and gradually built its reputation after being selected as a notable book in various cities the year it was published. Since then, it has become required reading for teens and has firmly established itself as a steady seller, celebrated as a book that even teens who don't typically read can finish in one sitting.

After "Almond" became the first Asian novel to win the No. 1 spot at the Japan Bookstore Award, author Sohn Won-pyung went on to reclaim the top spot in 2022 with "The Thirties Rebellion," and in 2023 took second place and the Kobo Award with "Prism," cementing her status as one of Korea's most celebrated authors in the Japanese publishing world.

"Almond" has been translated and exported to over 30 countries across North America, South America, Europe, and the Middle East. It was selected as one of Amazon's Best Books in the U.S. and received glowing reviews from international media, including The Wall Street Journal. Five years after its initial release, in 2022, it surpassed 1 million copies sold in print in Korea alone, becoming a million-seller and sending ripples through a struggling reading market. This success is a testament to how the novel's captivating characters, universal theme of emotion, and concise, compelling writing style have resonated deeply with readers around the world.

At a time when empathy matters more than ever, yet true connection often feels absent, "Almond" breathes warmth and life into the frozen hearts of modern readers.

Design Direction

Since its first publication in 2017, "Almond" has remained a steady seller, continuously read well beyond its initial bestseller status. In designing the new cover, the top priority was to differentiate every element — from the cover to the interior design — from previous editions. As the book appeals to both teen and adult readers, it has been released in two completely different cover versions: a teen edition and an adult edition. Turning 50 is a turning point that many people feel deeply—not quite severe enough to be called menopausal depression, but still marked by an inexplicable heaviness of heart, a sense of hitting limits in society, shifting family dynamics, and changing relationships. How should we overcome the crises that arrive after 50, in the second half of life? "You Need to Change Your Outlook on Life After 50" offers practical guidance for those preparing to face the flood of challenges that can hit all at once in your 50s, as the goals and values you've pursued until now begin to waver.

Chapter 1 confronts the negative emotions—regret, jealousy, and the like—that commonly arise when we turn 50. Chapter 2 looks back on the author's own struggles, candidly sharing the efforts made to heal from the emotional wounds and negative feelings that came with them. Chapter 3 examines what kind of place the age of 50 occupies in a person's life and what kinds of crises tend to emerge at that stage. Chapter 4 discusses how to overcome the crises faced at 50 and live the second half of life to the fullest. Chapter 5 draws on the wisdom of those who came before us to explore how to accept the unavoidable sorrow of losing loved ones, and how to overcome the fear of death that becomes an increasingly real presence.

Facing the sweeping changes that come with this stage of life, the author advises readers to completely change their outlook: stop chasing big dreams, stop maintaining wide social circles, and let go of pride. Instead, prepare for a life of solitude and live only for your own happiness and enjoyment. The book offers candid, realistic advice on how to keep your heart young, how to enjoy the many years still ahead, how to regain vitality, how to rekindle feelings of love, how to live a solitary yet fulfilling life, and how to find happiness right now.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0831/9788/6692/files/screen_shot_2020-01-31_at_1.39.38_pm.jpg?v=1786423776
반일-종족주의와의-투쟁
The Fight Against Anti-Japan Tribalism
<h2 style="font-size:1.8em;
