Description
Unlike Magritte, the representative surrealist painter who can be found in picture books.
It is a story about a boy who was having a boring time at a country house and has an amazing day when he meets his neighbors, the Magritte couple and Dali. The essence of surrealist art, the human aspects of painters Magritte and Dali, and the world of their works are captured in a simple yet playful story. It is also a great pleasure to be able to appreciate modern art while looking at illustrations based on the works of Magritte and Dali. It is no exaggeration to say that all scenes in the picture book are adapted from the works of Magritte and Dali.
The parents sitting on the sofa, frozen like stones, symbolize the world of adults caught up in inertia and indifference, or the solid real world. Pierre, who meets Magritte without worrying about his parents' prejudice, enters an unfamiliar and amazing world, and enjoys it, symbolizing an open mind and imagination. This is a picture book that will stimulate children's imagination and enhance their artistic vision.
Contents
During summer vacation, Pierre, who was spending boring days at a country house, goes to visit the house of his neighbor, the painter Magritte, whom his father calls 'a bit of a strange person.' Coincidentally, Uncle Magritte's friend Salvador Dali also comes to visit, and Pierre spends the evening with them. Watching Uncle Magritte draw, taking a walk in the forest behind the house, playing games, eating dinner... . But something is strange. Uncle Magritte must have been drawing birds while looking at bird eggs, and the walking paths he always took seemed somehow unfamiliar. Cats and dogs sometimes fall like rain from the sky. The dinner table prepared by Aunt Josette has flowers in boots, and flying fish and partridges pop out of her Auntie's best dishes, flying fish soup and partridge pie! After an unfamiliar but enjoyable time, Pierre returns home and goes to bed looking forward to what kind of day tomorrow will bring.
