Children of the world, we are friends

Friends from around the world are wearing traditional clothes and saying “Hello, how are you?” in traditional languages. In Japan they say “Konnichiwa”, in Sweden they say “Heisan”, and in Malawi they say “Mowi”. Now we are off to meet children around the world. The first friend I meet is Kalo, who lives in East Africa. In the wide grasslands of the savanna, Kahlo and his family, along with many other animals, are making pots out of clay. Kalo asks you to guess the names of ten animals hiding in the forest. Next is my Arab friend Zaif. I live in a small oasis in the desert. Zaif's family raises many camels and sheep. Zaif needs to learn to read and write in the oasis tent, but a flock of sheep is blocking the way. Would you like to help Zaif and teach him how to get through the maze? This book was jointly published with UNESCO to commemorate the 'International Year for the Eradication of Civilization' to help children understand the wider world and dream of a better global village to live in. Children from 25 countries around the world are introduced to the customs of each country, including their country's folk costumes and greetings, in the form of explaining them to our children. We hope that <Children of the World, We Are Friends> will help 'children with dreams' understand the wider world and become protagonists in creating a peaceful and livable global village.
