When we think of a Christmas cantata, the subject matter almost always centers on angels, shepherds, wise men, and the manger — these are, after all, essential parts of the story. But writing a cantata focused on His name? That seemed like a difficult challenge. Even so, I found myself drawn to it without hesitation.\n\nHere is the truth: I love His name. It's true — just as the lyrics say, there really is 'something in that name.' It is a name as familiar as a neighbor's, and yet precious enough to answer every question of your heart. It is a name that makes evil spirits tremble, while comforting those alone in the darkest of nights. It is, at once, ordinary and extraordinary. To me, that name is the most beautiful name above every name!\n\nHonestly, I wasn't sure how to capture that in music. But that doesn't mean I didn't try — in fact, I worked hard to find a way to express it. I truly hope that the lyrics and music of this piece will find their way into your heart and remain there. Above every performance, we simply want to lift up the name of the One who said, \"And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself\" (John 12:32). Jesus! We love Your name!\n\n- Rose Aspinall\n\nOne of the greatest joys of Christmas is coming together with friends and family to celebrate the season. Many of us pause from school, work, and the busyness of daily life to spend time together remembering the birth of the Christ child and the event that changed our lives forever. This gathering isn't so different from what happened when Jesus was born. Because of a census, many people traveled to Bethlehem — among them, Mary and Joseph. Word of Jesus's coming birth reached angels, shepherds, and eventually the wise men, who all gathered before the manger.\n\nThe profound events surrounding Christ's birth still move us today. He is the One sent to change everything. He is Jesus.\n\nThis 40-minute cantata is devoted entirely to revealing this holy child. We explore the wonder of His coming and what His birth means for those who accept the life-changing gift He offers. Through powerful original songs, beloved carols, and a dramatic spiritual, the Christmas story unfolds, posing the question: \"Is there room in my heart to welcome Him?\" As the music shifts in style and tone, drawing the message deeper into the listener's heart, two narrators weave the storyline together. With skillful orchestration by Ed Hogan, these dramatic moments all point toward one baby — the Word made flesh — and He is Jesus.\n\nLet us now gather together to praise this exalted and holy One, whose name is above every name, the almighty King who reigns over heaven and earth.
