The Children of Janusz Korczak\n3. Korczak's Life, Love, and Beautiful Death\n4. Korczak's Farewell Address\n5. Translating the Works of Janusz Korczak\n\nAuthor: Janusz Korczak\n\nJanusz Korczak was a pen name; his real name was Henryk Goldszmit. Born in 1878 into a Jewish-Polish family in Warsaw, Korczak lived an extraordinary life devoted to caring for, loving, and understanding children through his medical and educational practice as well as his literary work, until his death in 1942 during World War II, when he was killed alongside the children in his care at the Treblinka concentration camp by German forces occupying Poland.\n\nHe lived through the education reform movements that flourished brilliantly at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, yet he does not appear to have had any direct connection to those movements. Instead, he seems to have lived a rather solitary life. For a long time, he remained largely forgotten in modern history. It was those in Poland who knew him who began to spread word of his work, and as his writings and life story gradually crossed borders, people suddenly began to discover him. Interest in him spread beyond Poland and Israel to Germany, Switzerland, France, various Northern European countries, and the United States.\n\nAccordingly, it has not been so long since numerous papers, both large and small, on his life and thought began to be published. In Germany—one of the regions where Korczak studies have been especially active—Erich Dauzenroth wrote his biography in 1981, and Wolfgang Pelzer shed new light on him again in 1987. Michael Rangahnki was the first to academically establish Korczak's pedagogy (1994). Meanwhile, in the United States, a female researcher published in 1988 what is considered the most comprehensive biography of Korczak to date.","brand":"IBOOKPARK","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":49623797530852,"sku":"1405732140","price":14.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0831\/9788\/6692\/files\/1405732140_m.jpg?v=1786422122","url":"https:\/\/ibookpark.com\/en\/products\/%ec%95%bc%eb%88%84%ec%8a%88%ec%bd%94%eb%a5%b4%ec%b0%a9%ec%9d%98%ec%95%84%ec%9d%b4%eb%93%a4","provider":"IBOOKPARK","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
