Where there is laughter, there is also crying; where there is joy, there is also anger, sadness, pain, and loss. But even in the midst of hardship, there are always moments that shine. That is why families, 'even so,' continue to love one another and live on together.\n\nIn this picture book, I wanted to portray those shining moments of family life — the moments that catch us unexpectedly amid a hard and weary life; the moments we feel love in our hearts; the moments we feel happy simply for being together; the moments we realize we've comforted a family member's pain or sorrow; the overwhelming moments of realizing we've been accepted by our family; the moments we recognize that we have someone beside us to share life with; the moments we suddenly realize that the people we've lived alongside all this time, without even knowing it, truly are our family; the moments we realize that even those we've never met and may never meet in this lifetime — yet who give us great strength — are also our family; and the quiet moments when, amid the dull passage of ordinary time, our eyes suddenly meet another's.\n\nI wanted to weave all of these moments together into one great family story.
