Description

The captivating whispers of jewels that hold secrets
There is a shop where only gems that keep secrets can enter. It is called the 'Masokkan', a place where gems that attract people's hearts, from gems with warm hearts to gems that sing evil curses, rest. The gems introduced this time have unfamiliar names such as Bloodstone, Larimar, and Garden Quartz, but that makes them even more curious. Some people become happy with gems, while others become unhappy. While the previous volume mainly contained hopeful stories of people who found good luck with gems, this volume contains not only positive short stories about people who have found new life thanks to gems, but also short stories that warn that misfortune can come to those who rely too much on the power of gems or try to possess them recklessly. The fourth volume of the strange and fantastic gem tales, <Secret Jewel Shop Masokkan>, written by Hiroshima Reiko, the author of <The Strange Candy Shop Jeoncheondang>, <Trouble Travel Agency>, and <The Ten Year Shop>.
◼ A story that is more curious and exciting because it is unpredictable
〈Secret Jewel Shop, Maseokgwan〉 includes the characteristics of the jewel and the jewel’s words at the end of each short story. The reason why this series is attractive is because the jewel stories created by the author sometimes follow the jewel’s unique characteristics and words, but sometimes they unfold in the opposite direction. Sapphire originally means ‘sincerity’ and ‘loyalty’ and is used as a token of love between lovers, but the sapphire in “Sapphire – Blue Trap” is an evil jewel that enjoys dividing people. Garden quartz is known to have the power of purification that calms the mind, but in “Garden Quartz – Forest Where Souls Dwell,” the main character girl’s mind calms down with garden quartz and eventually falls into the world inside the jewel forever. Readers will look forward to a new story every time they read the author’s unique imagination that reverses the original characteristics of the jewel.
◼ A gift for readers who like the “Masokwan” series
As readers who have been reading this series regularly will know, this series features a gentleman who collects jewels in each volume. The gentleman, who previously appeared at the end of the books, appears in the middle of the story in an unexpected place in this fourth volume. Unlike the previous covers, which were drawn from the perspective of a guest who was invited to the magic stone shop by the gentleman, this cover features a small back view of a girl. After reading all four volumes, you will realize that the girl is inside the jewel and that the gentleman is looking through it. Antis, who was the main character in the first volume, “Moonstone – Twin Sisters of the Haunted Mansion,” also appears briefly as a medium in the third volume, “Sunstone – Cursed Embroidery and the Stone of the Sun,” and the fourth volume, “Garden Quartz – Forest Where Spirits Dwell.” This can be considered a gift from the writers and illustrators who want to give readers a different kind of fun reading this series with new variations. The “Secret Jewelry Shop Magic Stone” series will return to readers with a new jewel story.
