The Treasure Hunt series, a historical comic book series based on actual history, depicts an adventure in search of treasure! The beloved Treasure Hunt series, with its lively characters, solid storyline, and supporting historical information, has been published in a new volume, following the publication of "World Exploration Comic History Knowledge," where you travel to each country to learn about its culture, "Korean History Exploration Comic History Knowledge," where you discover shining moments in Korean history, and "World History Exploration Comic History Knowledge," where you learn about important events in world history. A grand treasure hunt adventure to representative cities of each country, cities with long histories, and beautiful cities! The first city we will visit is Shanghai, China, where Eastern and Western, classical and modern cultures coexist beautifully.

▣ Shanghai, China! What kind of city is it?

What comes to mind when you think of the Chinese city of Shanghai? China's leading economic powerhouse? Or a city offering a glimpse into a unique, unconventional culture? Shanghai, in fact, is a unique city that embodies both. On one side of the Huangpu River, which flows through Shanghai, towering skyscrapers pierce the sky, while on the other, magnificent European-style classical buildings flaunt their grandeur. This fusion of classical and modern, Eastern and Western cultures has made Shanghai a representative city of southern China, attracting much attention and affection.
Shanghai, once a small fishing village on the outskirts of China, transformed into this unique city, a city steeped in a dark history of forced opening of ports and invasion by powerful Western powers. Shanghai was one of five ports forced to open after China's defeat in the Opium Wars against Britain. This led to a gradual expansion of foreign-controlled concessions, a painful period of history. Nevertheless, Shanghai thrived, nurturing the diverse cultures flowing in from around the world. As a result, it blossomed into a vibrant and diverse city.
Shanghai also enjoys a close relationship with Korea. During the Japanese colonial period, Korean independence activists fled to Japan and established the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea in Shanghai. Independence activist Yun Bong-gil threw a bomb at Japanese troops in Shanghai's Hongkou Park, signaling his determination for independence to the world. Shanghai, the setting for numerous historical moments, continues to transform daily, writing new chapters in its history.
