Sejonghakdang Practical Korean 1 (Sejong Korean Conversation 1 Revised Edition)

The 『Sejong Hakdang Practical Korean』 textbook is a revised edition of the 『Sejong Korean Conversation』 textbook developed in 2016, a 'Korean' textbook that focuses on improving the 'communication' skills of overseas Korean language learners. When publishing the new 『Sejong Hakdang Practical Korean』, we conducted a survey of teachers and learners who have experience using the 『Sejong Korean Conversation』 textbook, and conducted in-depth interviews with teachers dispatched to Sejong Hakdang, local teachers, and operating teachers to maximize the strengths of 『Sejong Korean Conversation』 and make up for its shortcomings.

In particular, in line with the 'gender impact assessment items' that have recently been drawing attention in Korean language textbooks, we have tried to eliminate stereotypes and prejudices about gender roles and eliminate gender imbalances in representation. In addition, we have tried to clarify and simplify unclear illustrations or photos or complicated instructions to increase the efficiency of teaching and learning. In addition, multiple standard words have been replaced with vocabulary that Koreans often use, and we have considered the socio-cultural situation in Korea that has changed since publication to enhance timeliness and practical usability in educational settings.
