Our proverbs are as beautiful as jewels piled up in a treasure trove. However, no matter how beautiful a proverb is, its true value will be revealed if you keep using it in your daily life. Additionally, if you learn the background of a proverb in a story, you will automatically learn its meaning and be able to use it naturally.

Teacher Lim Deok-yeon, who wrote “One Proverb, One Story,” was always very interested in proverbs that contain the lifestyles of our ancestors and the wisdom of life. Meanwhile, she wanted to tell the story behind the proverb not only to adults but also to our children, so she decided to tell a proverb into a story.
There have been many books about proverbs, but it is rare to find a complete story combined with a proverb like “One Proverb, One Story.” In addition, stories of historical proverbs that arose from historical facts, such as proverbs reflecting the ugly social situation just before the fall of Goryeo or finding the etymology of proverbs in anecdotes of Taejo Lee Seong-gye of the Joseon Dynasty or the nobleman Hwang Hui, are definitely worth paying attention to. This is a uniqueness that is difficult to find in existing proverb books.
