Description

Today too, Dong-i plays marbles in a corner of the playground, hoping that his friends will talk to him first. However, the friends don't seem to have much interest in marbles or Dongdong. He says, ‘It’s not bad to play alone,’ and he tries to act calm, but there is a limit to what he can endure.
Dongdong, feeling embarrassed for some reason, quietly leaves with the excuse that he needs new beads. Then I stop by a local stationery store and buy a bag of candy. At first, I thought it was a bead and picked it up, but the owner, the old man, said it was very sweet, and I fell for it.
But this is not an unusual candy. Among the candies of various sizes, shapes, and colors, there was a pattern that caught my eye, so I quickly put it in my mouth... An unfamiliar voice is heard. "dong… Dongdong… Dongdong… Dongdonga… Here… here… .” The owner of the voice that desperately calls out to Dongdong is the old sofa. I complain that the sofa hurts because the remote control is stuck on the side, and that it's hard to breathe because my dad is sitting on me and farting.
Next, Al Candy tells the inside story of Gooseul, an old dog who is dragged around by Dongdong's hand all day long, the inner thoughts of Dongdong's father, who constantly nags him whenever he makes eye contact, and the happy greetings of his grandmother, whom he misses so much but cannot meet. After learning about feelings he never dreamed of, Dongdong is now left with a piece of transparent candy in his hand. Whose feelings will this candy convey to Dongdong?

"love you!" "I miss you." “Do you want to play with me?”
A magic candy that gives you the courage to say the simplest and most difficult thing in the world!

Dongdong is a child who is not good at expressing his feelings or understanding the feelings of others. Considering that Gongcha has three friends, it doesn't look like he will refuse if you ask him to join first, but he doesn't say anything in the end. Then, my friends make accusations that are not criticism, such as saying that they don't know how fun marbles is, and that they only play among themselves. In the eyes of his friends, Dongdong may appear to be a child with no interest in soccer, but he himself is frustrated because he cannot even imagine the views of his friends.
In Dongdong’s mind, his friends first approached him and asked, “Hey, what is that? sounds fun! Please include us too.” There is only one scenario where they say, “Please join me too.” There is no scenario that says: This may be due to shyness, but it is also largely due to not being able to understand the other person's point of view.
Alcandy tells Dongdong the ‘hearts’ of other beings. The uncomfortable situation on the sofa, Gusul’s difficult situation, Dad’s sincerity, Grandma’s well-being… . After listening to the voices of various hearts, Dongdong is finally able to understand the hearts of others to some extent. When you see a friend who appears as if a new season appears in the place where one season left after giving a colorful greeting, you first say a word that you have not been able to say to anyone before.
I hope that this “candy” will create the same magic that happened to Dongdong to countless children who are probably no different from Dongdong. The magic of empathy, the magic of courage, and the magic of growth.

PS_In this book, two characters from the author's previous works appear as cameos. Among them, the stationery owner's grandfather may have been aware of Dongdong's situation and offered him magic candy. You look like you would fit in well at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I'll leave it to the readers to have fun guessing who the other cameo is.
