Goro, cheer up - Iseum picture book, lower grades 33

At Takuya's house, there is a grandfather's dog, Goro, who is so old that he is weak and cannot walk well. The two have grown up together since childhood and are so used to each other that Takuya does not really understand the importance of Goro. One day, while Takuya is about to go play baseball with his friends, his mother asks him to take Goro for a walk.

Takuya, feeling impatient, pushes Goro's butt and tries to force him to go faster. When his girlfriend in the same class laughs at this, Takuya feels embarrassed. He forcefully drags old Goro up the embankment, but when he gets to the top of the embankment, Goro suddenly falls down.

It is a fairy tale that reminds us of the existence of beings that are always around us like the air we breathe, but we forget their importance. The efforts of Takuya's friends and the neighborhood people to unite to save an old dog, which is a small object, are quietly moving. The author, Iwao Fukuda, is a picture book writer with long experience who has won the Ehon Nippon Award, an award given to picture books in Japan.

Introduce :	Born in Okayama Prefecture, Japan in 1950. Won the Japanese Picture Book Award for “Ratclatter, Clatter.” The books he wrote and illustrated include 《Long Live the Fart》, 《Because I'm an Older Brother》, and 《First Grade is Out!》, and the books he drew include 《Dad's V Sign》, 《Makoto's Blue Sky》, and 《Even Without Knowing My Heart》.

She currently works as a translator specializing in Japanese literature.
