Raised in Hampyeong, Jeollanam-do, he helped with farm work all the way through high school—plowing rice paddies, weeding fields, and riding cows home. He traveled extensively, from the Samyang Ranch at Daegwallyeong to the Jeju pony pastures, to carefully and lovingly create these illustrations.
