About the Author Written by Lee Chan-gyu, a professor in the Department of Korean Language and Literature at Chung-Ang University and an expert in language communication. His research has focused on uncovering the meaning of language, studying communication, and language communication education. Believing strongly in the importance of nurturing children's communication skills from an early age, he created the "Baby Communication" series—educational books designed to teach young children how to communicate effectively. The first book in the series, Don't Cry, Just Tell Me, identifies common issues in children's language expression and teaches ways to handle different situations. Featuring Baby Bear, who cries at the drop of a hat, the book teaches children who whine or throw tantrums to get what they want how to instead express their thoughts clearly through words. The second book in the series, Tell Me Why, addresses how frustrating it can be for others when children constantly use the words "No" and "I don't know"—the most commonly used words among young children—and emphasizes the importance of being able to clearly express one's own thoughts. Rather than reacting with simple, instinctive emotional expressions, the book encourages children to practice thinking about "why" before speaking, helping to develop their thinking skills and build healthy relationships with others. Illustrated by Choi Na-mi, born in 1965 in Seoul, she graduated from the Department of Child Studies at Seoul Women's University. She began writing in earnest after graduating from the Hankyoreh Writers' School. By portraying the everyday lives of families, parents, and children of our time from an entirely new perspective, she has established herself as an author who "marked a turning point in 21st-century children's literature" (according to children's literature critic Yoo Young-jin).
