Description

Lydia, a girl living in a peaceful and quiet rural village, finds her greatest joy in gardening vegetables and flowers with her grandmother. However, when her father loses his job and her mother struggles to find work as a seamstress, Lydia is sent to stay with her uncle, who runs a bakery in the city. Her uncle is a rather gruff man who hardly ever smiles, but as Lydia becomes accustomed to life in the bakery, she begins to prepare a surprise to astonish him. That surprise is to transform the bakery's rooftop into a beautiful flower garden! With the flower seeds sent by her grandmother, Lydia plants and nurtures them, and on Independence Day, when the bakery is closed, she reveals the flower-covered rooftop to her uncle, who is so moved that he bakes a lovely cake decorated with flowers in gratitude.
《Lydia's Garden》 is a story of a girl navigating through difficult times that are hard for children to bear, conveying gentle inspiration and hope, while the unique letter format expresses the innocence of childhood in a clearer way.
