Description
The explosive imagination of a 9-year-old boy from Jeju stretches out in a deeply moving way!
"A story of becoming a new family together with an adopted younger sibling."
"The story of Isu welcoming his little brother with his whole heart. The story of the Isu family being reborn through love."
On the day a baby elephant, being chased by a pride of lions, arrived, Isu got another little sibling. This little elephant was a bit different. Holding onto his mother's tail as he walked, the little one limped. Isu felt impatient and frustrated. The baby elephant walked slowly, screamed so loudly it felt like it would burst your eardrums, and stomped his feet all over the sand drawing Isu had worked so hard to make, ruining it.
Mother elephant told him that every elephant is different, and what matters most is helping and caring for one another and living together—but Isu couldn't shake his frustration.
Then one day, having run outside because of his little brother, Isu found himself trapped inside iron bars. At first he saw delicious bananas, but then someone came and dressed him in golden clothes and placed something very heavy on his back. Isu had to carry it and walk on and on in pain, without rest.
As the days passed like this, Isu came to understand his little brother's heart. He must have been just as sad as I am now. Just as exhausted as I am. He must have wanted a family so desperately.
When he woke up and found the door open, Isu ran with all his strength. To find the place where he used to live, to meet the family he loved, he kept moving his tired feet without stopping. And finally, when he returned to his family's embrace, Isu felt his heart grow warm. Only then did he truly understand what mother elephant had meant.
That we are all different from one another, and that being different means being special. That what matters most is helping and caring for one another and living together, that we must love one another. And that the little elephant who taught him this—his slightly different little brother—was such a precious gift to his family.
