Let's find the animals hiding deep in the forest! Two little children are walking toward the forest, where many animals are hidden away. The creatures of the forest are quite shy and rarely show themselves. Look quietly, look closely — and little by little, the animals will slowly appear from within the deep woods. As you make your way through the thick, lush forest, you'll come to discover just how many wonderful creatures from all over the world are waiting to be found in this mysterious forest. Now, let's set off to find the animals hiding in the forest!
This picture book is by Mitsumasa Anno, the acclaimed artist who received the 1974 Minister of Education Art Encouragement Prize for New Artists, the Sankei Children's Book Publishing Culture Award, the Kate Greenaway Medal Special Award (UK), the New York Academy of Sciences Award (USA), the BIB Golden Apple Award, the Bologna International Children's Book Fair Graphic Prize (Italy), and the Hans Christian Andersen Award (IBBY), among many others.
Filled with finely detailed illustrations of forests and the animals hidden within them, this book features rabbits, turtles, and other creatures tucked away on every page. Every single page of Forest Story is filled entirely with forest scenery — sunlit forests, dense forests, forests so thickly wooded that they grow dark, forests seen from afar, forests seen up close, forests you could look at again and again. And hidden within them all, countless animals — tucked away so carefully that you'll need to look very closely to find them.
This book nurtures a child's sense of focus and attentiveness, encouraging them to notice even the smallest blade of grass, twig, or tree trunk without missing a thing. Forest Story shows us the many familiar faces of the forest, presented again and again from different angles.
