Description The number of Korean nationals living abroad continues to grow steadily, now exceeding 7.4 million people worldwide. In order for these overseas Koreans to live with a healthy sense of identity and pride, Korean language education tailored to their unique circumstances is essential. Because language development varies by age, it is also important to provide age-appropriate Korean language education. Building on its previous achievements in developing customized teaching materials, the National Institute of Korean Language has worked to create Korean language educational resources for preschool-age children (ages 3-6) of overseas Koreans. In 2017, foundational research and needs assessments were conducted, followed by field testing and feedback collection in 2018. The development team included experts in Korean language education, early childhood education, and overseas Korean education. As a result, the 'Fun Korean for Preschoolers Around the World' series was published, consisting of 6 activity books for children, 2 teacher's guides, 1 Hangeul play book, and 1 big picture book. These educational materials are designed to be easy and convenient for overseas Korean children, teachers, and parents alike to use. Children can enjoyably learn Korean through a wide range of learning content; teachers can flexibly use various activity sheets according to their educational goals; and parents can naturally extend what their children learn at school into everyday use at home through family-linked activities. In particular, these materials were developed to enhance children's bilingual abilities and foster a healthy sense of linguistic and cultural identity. They are richly filled with content about the Korean language and culture, striving to showcase diverse aspects of language and culture. We hope that through 'Fun Korean for Preschoolers Around the World,' many overseas Korean children will enjoy learning Korean with excitement.
