Description
This book is a fable containing the faith confession of Hans Christian Andersen, the world-renowned children's author. Beloved by people of all generations, from children to adults, this work by Andersen contains a faith-based message that has not previously been introduced in Korea. Through the story of the pen and the ink, it delivers a message urging us to remember God the Creator.
The pen and the ink argue over which of them is greater, each claiming that the writer's words are truly their own work, and they come to despise and ignore one another. Meanwhile, on his way home from a concert, the writer reflects on the musician who played such beautiful music. He soon realizes that without the musician, the instrument would be nothing, and he writes a piece called 'The Violin and the Player' to capture this thought—but the foolish pen and ink fail to understand its meaning.
Author Introduction
Hans Christian Andersen
A Danish author of fairy tales and novels. At a time when most European stories for children were old folktales or fairy stories, Andersen created original stories for children, giving rise to what we now call the 'fairy tale' and earning him the title 'Father of the Fairy Tale' for blossoming this genre of children's literature. Beginning in earnest in 1835, Andersen wrote fairy tales until 1872, producing around 160 stories in total, including beloved works such as The Little Mermaid, The Snow Queen, and The Little Match Girl. Andersen never found lasting love with the women he cared for and remained single throughout his life, passing away at the age of 70 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
