Description ☆ Amazon #1 Bestseller in Children's Books! ☆ Winner of the Readers' Favorite Book Award! ☆ A collaboration between bestselling author Brenda Lee (100,000+ copies sold) and resilience expert Jeannie Kim! ☆ Includes a special resilience guide for parents and caregivers! 〉 The one thing every child who says "No!" and "I don't want to!" needs: Resilience "No!" and "I don't want to!" echo through the house every day. "No!" when a shoe won't slip on right. "I don't want to!" when a book shows something unfamiliar, so the book gets slammed shut. A child who cries, gets frustrated, and gives up after just one or two failures when things don't go their way. What's the problem here, and how should we handle it? What looks easy to us can be genuinely hard for children. Everything is still new to them—they're still learning. What we need to teach them at this stage is how to fail well. Everyone fails at some point. Children who learn how to fail well, rather than how to avoid failing altogether, will be able to get back up no matter what difficulties come their way in the future. This skill of failing well is called resilience. A child who says "It's okay, I'll try again!" when a shoe won't go on, or who asks for help by saying "Mom, what's this? Can you show me?" when facing something unfamiliar—these are all things a child with strong resilience can do. By practicing resilience through small everyday failures, children can build the strength to overcome bigger challenges down the road. Give your child the secret weapon that leads to success in learning, relationships, and every area of life: resilience. 〉 Special Commentary from an Education Expert! "Failure is like a vaccine that builds resilience." Resilience refers to the strength to keep working through problems without being shaken by hardship, adversity, mistakes, or failure—and the ability to grow by turning failure into a learning opportunity. In that sense, Millie is both a "mistake maker" and a "resilience champion." She falls down again and again, but never gives up, working hard until she finally achieves her goal. I often interpret FAIL as "First Attempt In Learning." Reading Millie's story reminded me once again that failure and growth are not opposites. Children who, like Millie, have a naturally positive and optimistic temperament tend to have higher resilience. But regardless of a child's natural temperament, there are ways to build resilience over time. (...) No child can go through life without failing. (...) Comfort, encourage, and support your child every time they fail. In an environment like this, children can grow into confident, resilient individuals who take on challenges fearlessly and get back up no matter how many times they fall. 〉 A Book Praised by Teachers and Parents in the US! ▶ Rave Reviews from Teachers!
