Read children's hearts through the eyes of aliens exploring the human brain!
"If I were to publish just one children's book, I wanted it to be one that could teach kids brain science — science that helps us understand our own hearts."
★★★ A truly special science story for kids by Professor Jung Jae-seung! ★★★
We forget, distort, and exaggerate our memories all the time — why do we do that? Aliens have started to find human memory strangely unreliable! The second book in the brain science series that makes everyday life fascinating is here — this time, it's all about memory!
--- Why do we remember the same event differently?
--- Why is my memory so bad?
--- Why do childhood memories keep showing up in dreams?
The answer lies in the brain!

★★★ Brain science provides crucial clues for understanding who we are and the people around us. ★★★
When my daughter was very young, she got frustrated because she couldn't memorize a web address. So I told her, "People naturally can't remember more than about seven items at once." She replied, "Oh, so it's normal that I can't memorize this," and seemed to understand. Another time, my younger child complained that she wasn't treated as fairly as her older sister. So I called both kids together and explained, "Our brains have a special area called the 'insula' that compares whether parents treat siblings equally. So even if you try hard not to feel jealous, that's just how our brains work — don't feel guilty about comparing yourself to your sister. If you ever feel something is unfair, just tell mom and dad." After hearing this, the girls understood the situation and even made up with each other.
Seeing this, I began to think about writing a children's or young adult book someday. And I thought that if I were to publish just one children's book, I wanted it to teach kids the kind of brain science that helps us understand our own hearts. We never really learn about brain science until we graduate high school — yet it gives us essential clues for understanding who we are, why our friends behave the way they do, and why our society functions the way it does. If we teach children brain science early on, they'll be better able to manage their emotions and develop deeper empathy for why others act the way they do. With that in mind, I wanted to create a book that teaches brain science to children in a fun and engaging way — and that's how this book came to be.
★★★ If I had to describe the Human Exploration Report series in one phrase... it's like a jukebox of curiosity. ★★★
Most of the worries children have when they're young can actually be answered by understanding the brain. "Why do I feel this way? Why do I sometimes fight with others, or fail to control my impulses, or want to do the very thing I'm told not to? Why does that friend act that way? Why do my parents say these things to us?" Most of the questions we had as children can be largely explained once we understand the mind — and the brain, which holds that mind. That's why I think the Human Exploration Report series is like a jukebox of the curiosities and questions we truly wonder about.
