"Claudia and the Phantom Phone Calls" tells the story of twelve-year-old Claudia and her younger brother Jamie as they run away to one of the largest art museums in the United States, the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The siblings uncover the secret of a statue of an angel that the museum purchased for $250, while learning how to confront their own problems more closely. While one might expect a typical runaway story to unfold like a road movie, this work completely subverts our imagination. The children, in a surprising twist, choose to run away to a museum that is empty except for security guards after hours. Their adventures within the museum are equally extraordinary. As a result, readers will have the opportunity to follow Claudia and Jamie as they explore the Metropolitan Museum of Art and its exhibits.
