Author: Jeon Seong-su He graduated from Seoul National University of Education and taught elementary school students for ten years. He studied education at the graduate school of Seoul National University and earned a secondary teaching certificate, then went on to earn his doctorate in education from the graduate schools of Korea National University of Education and Hongik University. He currently serves as a professor in the Department of Early Childhood Education at Bucheon University. Over his 30 years in education, having experienced early childhood, elementary, secondary, and university education firsthand, he came to recognize the serious challenges facing Korean education. Starting in 2006, he thoroughly studied roughly a thousand books on parenting and education, and to address the chronic problems of Korean education, he researched Jewish education by traveling to Israel twice and visiting Jewish homes, synagogues, and schools in the United States. He has served as director of the Havruta Education Research Institute, board member of the Havruta Education Institute, and executive director of the Shema Education Society, and has continuously introduced Jewish education—especially the core Havruta method—through broadcasts, newspapers, and various other media.
