Description Yujoon is bored, and Dad decides to have some ticklish fun with him. Whenever Yujoon feels bored, Dad sneaks up and tickles his armpits. Before they know it, Dad and Yujoon transform into caterpillars. Caterpillar Dad chases after him shouting, “Let’s catch the caterpillar, catch it!” while Yujoon-the-caterpillar hides his armpits and wriggles away just like a real caterpillar. When Dad tickles Yujoon’s belly button, the two of them turn into crocodiles. And when Dad grabs his ankle and tickles the sole of his foot, what will they transform into next? A joyful father-son body-play story built on a two-beat rhythm As the pages turn, Dad and Yujoon’s tickling game unfolds into their own little world of imagination. In Dad’s expression as he chases the fleeing Yujoon-the-caterpillar, there’s a gentle patience that lets Yujoon enjoy the thrill of running away. This delightful play moves from tickling armpits to tickling belly buttons, with each chase-and-escape forming a small, complete two-beat moment. Within these many small, complete moments lies the full warmth and emotion of father-son body play. If Cling to Dad was a story about the comfort of hugs between father and son, Tickle Tickle can be seen as the definitive story of playful physical bonding. The stronger the bond with Dad, the more emotionally secure a child becomes Today’s fathers are more actively involved in parenting than ever before. Many read parenting books in advance and take part in prenatal care, but once the baby actually arrives, theory often gives way to real-life confusion. Tickling is one of the simplest and most basic forms of physical touch — it starts with the body and grows into emotional connection, helping build intimacy between father and child. This accumulated closeness gradually turns into a lasting bond of attachment between parent and child. Dr. Ross Parke, a psychology professor at a university in California, introduced what is known as the “father effect”: the stronger the bond between a father and child, the more emotionally stable the child becomes, and the higher their measured scores in intellectual development. This so-called “father effect” shows that a father’s involvement in parenting is directly linked to a child’s emotional well-being, reaffirming the importance of physical touch as the foundation of that bond. Why not start building that connection today — reading and experiencing Tickle Tickle together, anytime, anywhere, with your child?
