Description
This book awakens children to the value of trees—something we see all around us every day, yet so often overlook. Behind its plain and simple title lies a thoughtfully woven collection of fascinating topics. The author's precise scientific knowledge shines through in the variety of information presented, beautifully paired with watercolor illustrations.
The author first introduces the many things made from wood, especially explaining—at a level children can easily understand—how paper is made from trees. After a broader discussion of how trees provide food and fruit for animals and people, as well as cozy homes to rest in, the book goes on to explain photosynthesis and specific ways to protect trees.
