Description ■ "What's the scariest thing in the world to you?" Fear is one of the trickiest emotions for children to handle. Shall we explore together how to face fear and bravely overcome it? No matter how brave a child may be, there's always at least one thing in the world that scares them. Every child has something they're afraid of. But fear is a complicated emotion for children to manage—sometimes just letting others see them scared feels unbearable. Do children have to carry this complicated, difficult emotion all on their own? Thankfully, I'm (Not) Scared shows children a wise—and surprisingly simple—way to face their fears with courage. The two furry friends in this story tremble with fear, yet find the courage to overcome it. How? Because they have each other. Fear feels less frightening when shared with a friend. Something too hard to face alone becomes something we find the courage to face when we're not alone. If there's something that scares you, try facing it together with a friend. Talk about what scares you. You might just discover the 'fun' hidden beneath the fear that you couldn't see before. And once you find that fun, the scary thing isn't quite so scary anymore, is it? Even in the final scene of I'm (Not) Scared, the two friends shout, "Whoa, that's scary!"—but their faces are lit up with excitement and joy. Watching them, you too will find the courage to face your fears. ■ The (Not) Series: Building Children's Social Skills and English Ability This book comes with SayPen compatibility, so children can listen to professional voice actor recordings, then read along and record their own voices!
