Byeong-du hurts Hong-woo further by bringing up the grandfather's old, run-down boat, the Hongseongho, and Hong-woo's father, who ran away to Seoul because he hated the smell of skate. That night, while playing hide-and-seek with friends, Hong-woo is tricked by Byeong-du into entering a village shrine. Startled by a painting of the shrine's guardian spirit, he wets himself and faints. Terrified that he'll now be teased at school for wetting himself, Hong-woo sneaks aboard his grandfather's boat, the Hongseongho, before dawn. Amid rough, stormy seas, he ends up helping his grandfather catch an enormous skate... As a child, she dreamed of becoming a salt merchant, but she became a children's author after winning the Daesan University Literary Award. She has since received the Woongjin Junior Literary Award, the MBC Creative Fairy Tale Grand Prize, and the Jeong Chae-bong Literary Award. Born in Gimhae, Gyeongsangnam-do, the illustrator studied fine art in college and now most enjoys illustrating children's books. While working on the illustrations for Do You Want to Be Friends Through the Fence?, she found joy and warmth in watching the emotional tug-of-war between a grandfather and his grandson, Yeong-hun. She both wrote and illustrated Where Is My Friend's House?, and has illustrated other books including Beware of Dog, Grandpa the Skate Fisherman, Generation After Generation, and The Secret of Treasure Island.
