Description
Deep in the mountains of the north, beneath three tall cedar trees, lives a little fairy named Bibi with her mother. One day, Bibi ventures into the thick forest and meets a giant goblin. The goblin secretly plans to boil Bibi in a big pot and eat her, so he invites her to his house. Bravely, Bibi follows along.
When the goblin tells her to fetch firewood, Bibi pulls up an entire pine tree, roots and all, in one go. When he asks her to bring two or three stones to prop up the pot, she kicks straight through a rock cave wall. As the water begins to boil, the goblin tells Bibi to take a bath first — but remembering her mother's words that 'you must be polite to those who are kind to you,' Bibi lifts the goblin up and drops him right into the hot water instead!
"The Little Fairy Who Scolded the Goblin" is a wonderfully dramatic story that contrasts a goblin with wicked intentions against a little fairy who calmly turns the tables on him. Is there anyone in the world who isn't afraid of goblins? Little Bibi certainly isn't. Without realizing that the hungry goblin is trying to eat her, she happily helps him along the way. Bibi's ever-present fox friend also plays an important role in the story.
Who would have guessed that small, seemingly fragile Bibi is actually incredibly strong? This is a fun and lighthearted read, following the thoroughly frightened goblin and the innocently cheerful Bibi.
