Description: A picture book that comforts children who can't often see their fathers, while giving grown-up readers a warm, touching moment of their own. A child misses his father, who is away working far from home, so much that he can't sleep. So he decides to go visit his dad all by himself. But his method is anything but ordinary — he wraps himself up like a present and mails himself as a package! He imagines how surprised his dad will be to find him in the mailbox, and happily pictures all the things he wants to do together. But all of this is just the child's imagination. In the end, he tapes his father's letter to the wall by his bed, dreams of the long, joyful journey to see his dad, and falls happily asleep. A quirky, heartwarming story of family love from two-time Caldecott Medal winner Simms Taback ■ Warmth and Humanity Hidden in Playful Fun Simms Taback's bold, vivid illustrations spark children's curiosity, but beneath all the playfulness and cheer lies a deep warmth for humanity. The journey the child takes to reach his father is long and wonderfully complicated. Yet once he finally arrives, all he really wants to do is take a bubbly bath, enjoy a delicious dinner and sweet snacks, and have his dad read him a book. Hearing the child's simple wishes tugs at the hearts of grown-up readers — because these are such small things that we can always give. The Way to Papa comforts children who, for many different reasons, can't see their fathers often, while leaving a warm and lasting impression on the adults who read it with them. ■ An Extraordinary Way to Reach Papa! Have you ever missed someone so much you couldn't sleep? A child misses his father, who is working far away, so badly that sleep just won't come — so he decides to go find him all on his own. But his plan is anything but ordinary. To travel safely to his dad without any grown-up noticing, he wraps himself up like a present and mails himself as a package! He even remembers to decorate the wrapping paper with a pretty drawing. He bravely endures the dark inside the box and the long airplane ride. He imagines how surprised his father will be to discover him in the mailbox, and happily thinks about everything they'll do together. But it's all just his imagination! In the end, he tapes his father's letter above his bed, dreams of the long and joyful road to his dad, and drifts off to sleep with a happy heart.
