This heartwarming story tells of the friendship between Himchan, who is teased and called "chicken skin" because of his atopic dermatitis, and Myeongok, the daughter of a North Korean-style noodle shop owner who escaped from North Korea and now attends elementary school in South Korea. The book gently explores how we should accept others who look different from us and live under different circumstances. Himchan is bullied by his classmates because of his skin condition, while Myeongok still carries the vivid emotional scars of losing her younger brother Myeongsu during their escape from North Korea.
