On a Saturday afternoon, Byeongkwan follows his mom and dad to a big supermarket. As soon as they pass the toy section, he stops in his tracks and begs for a brand-new toy. He even asks them to buy his next birthday present early. But his mom's answer is firm. Frustrated, Byeongkwan shouts, "Fine, then give me my allowance!" Will Byeongkwan actually get his allowance? Will he end up with the toy he wants? Back home from the store, Byeongkwan volunteers to help with chores. He runs the vacuum cleaner, shakes out the laundry just like his mom does, and even tackles the dishes—though he splashes water everywhere in the process. Jiwon and Byeongkwan, the sibling duo from Taking the Subway, return once again, with the same writer and illustrator team delivering their signature, well-balanced storytelling. Set against everyday backdrops like the subway and the supermarket, this creative team's work captures a slice of daily life with striking realism. The illustrations faithfully recreate real spaces while adding richness to the story through playful imagination. The carefully detailed household items, the food-sampling stands, and the people buying and selling goods are all wonderfully rewarding to look at closely.
