Description "What if... I just didn't go to kindergarten?" A simple daydream sparks a joyfully wild adventure Peanut doesn't want to go to kindergarten. Still, she puts on her kindergarten uniform and is about to slip on her shoes at the front door when a thought suddenly crosses her mind: "What if I just didn't go to kindergarten...?" That single moment of imagination bursts into a delightfully vivid adventure right before our eyes in this picture book. Peanut's daydream starts out pretty realistic. She imagines that if she disappeared, the first to notice would be her kindergarten teacher, Mr. Chestnut, followed soon by her mom, and then her dad—a surprisingly logical chain of events for a little one. Even in her imagination, she doesn't lose her sweetness, worrying about her parents running around searching for her. Then she pictures her mom and dad rushing to the police station. The police officers would be scrambling to find her, wouldn't they? And just like that, her imagination keeps growing bigger and bigger—spreading through the neighborhood, onto TV, across the whole world! It even escalates into a full-blown concert campaign to find Peanut... As her daydream spirals into something straight out of a cartoon, we see a charming glimpse of a child's innocent wish to be at the center of the world, with everyone watching and waiting just for her. But what does the now-famous Peanut actually want, in the end? The story's sweet, funny little twist is sure to bring a smile to your face. The joy of discovering hidden stories among an adorable cast of nut-themed characters This simple, joyful daydream becomes even richer thanks to its charming characters and the hidden stories tucked into every page. Alongside our heroine Peanut, you'll find Mr. Chestnut the teacher, Officer Walnut, and her friend Almond—plus other nut-related characters like Squid and Squirrel—each rendered with such personality that searching for them becomes half the fun. While the overall story follows what happens because Peanut skips kindergarten, the colorful supporting characters hide in the background, adding plenty of spice along the way. Watch for the guilty-looking Pea Thief who gets nervous at the sight of police searching for Peanut, the Squirrel whose tail always gives away its hiding spot no matter how cleverly it tries to hide, the Squid desperately searching for Peanut, and the scene-stealing Pine Nut friends who show up everywhere with their own little storylines, adding humor and life to every page. Keep an eye out for even more characters hiding here and there throughout the book. At some point, you're bound to burst out laughing at the author's clever humor and find yourself completely immersed in this charming nutty world. A safe, thrilling escape from an ordinary, boring day Everyone finds the same daily routine dull sometimes. Just as students dread going to school and adults dread going to work, kids feel the same way about kindergarten. Especially when they've had a fight with a friend, find their teacher scary, or simply think the day's activities sound boring, of course they don't want to go. Author Yoon Ji-hoe, known for touching children's hearts in her previous works, once again fully understands these feelings—and even indulges the delightfully mischievous fantasy of disappearing without the grown-ups noticing. Starting one morning right at the front door and rocketing all the way to the moon in an instant, this thrilling and joyful adventure gives kids a chance to enjoy an emotional escape of their own. Of course, in real life, sneaking away unnoticed by mom and dad would never actually work out—every plan would fall apart in an instant. But simply imagining such an amazing adventure, and reasoning "That's why I don't want to go to kindergarten!" in the cutest way possible, might be enough to feel like you've truly been to the moon and back. If today feels a little dull, why not close your eyes for a moment and enjoy your own little escape? This delightful picture book offers deep empathy for kids who don't want to go to kindergarten, a chance for parents to better understand their children's feelings, and plenty of giggles for everyone along the way.
