Description This is a picture book by Akiko Hayashi, winner of the 2nd Japan Picture Book Award, the Sankei Children's Publishing Culture Award for Art, the French Picture Book Award, the Kodansha Publishing Culture Award, and the American Reading-Magic Award. Through the story of Eunji and her stuffed fox, Fluffy, the book beautifully portrays the pure and innocent heart of a child. By breathing life into Fluffy and giving the toy real emotions, the story sparks children's imagination in wonderful ways. Akiko Hayashi is well known for her masterful depiction of children's expressions and behavior, and in Eunji and Fluffy, she vividly captures Eunji's inner emotions. Story Summary When Fluffy's arm breaks, Eunji and Fluffy take a train to Sand Hill Village to ask Grandmother to fix it. During the train ride, Fluffy goes to buy a lunchbox but gets his tail caught in the door and ends up flattened. When they finally arrive at the sand hill, they meet a dog, who grabs Fluffy in its mouth and dashes up the hill. Eunji chases after the dog to the top of the sand hill and calls out, "Fluffy!" as loudly as she can — but all she hears in return is the sound of the waves.
