▣ What Kind of City Is Jeju, Korea?
Jeju Island, Korea's island full of sights, delicious food, and fun activities, is home to about 660,000 residents and is recognized as one of the world's premier tourist destinations, not just within Korea. As Korea's largest island, Jeju is quite large even by Asian standards — in fact, the entire territory of Singapore, a major Asian city-state, is only about one-third the size of Jeju. Thanks to these features, Jeju was designated a Biosphere Reserve in 2002, inscribed as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site in 2007, and certified as a UNESCO Global Geopark in 2010 — achieving the remarkable distinction of being a UNESCO "Triple Crown" site.
