* "[Children's Book] 'National Geographic Nature Exploration'... Dinosaurs are opening their mouths wide~"
◇ National Geographic Nature Exploration (20 volumes) / Written by Tom Killeen et al. / Translated by Kim Yang-mi et al. / Each volume 10-16 pages / Each volume 28,000 KRW / Central Publishing (Ages 4-2nd Grade)
"In the early morning sunlight, two baby pumas are playing with a desert spiny lizard. Pumas live in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona, USA. Deserts have very little water and can sometimes be unbearably hot... In the morning, the kestrel flies out of its nest, and the cactus owl returns to its nest to sleep. There is another owl, can you find where it is?" ('Animals of the Desert')
When you open the book, cacti rise up. If you pull the rings up and down along the arrows, the two baby pumas move to catch a small lizard...
This is a pop-up book series for children published by the National Geographic Society, designed to capture children's interest with its pop-up format.
Every time you open the book, a capuchin monkey shows its fierce teeth and opens its mouth ('The Fun World of Monkeys'), and a baby octopus appears the size of a mother's hand ('Mysterious Sea Creatures').
Comprising a total of 20 volumes from 'The Story of Baby Dinosaurs' to 'The Discovery of Hidden Treasures', each book contains 5-8 pop-ups. In addition to pop-ups, there are tabs that make pictures move when pulled, and flaps that reveal hidden pictures when turned over.
Individual volumes can also be purchased. Since pop-up books can be quite pricey, if purchasing the entire set at once is burdensome, it might be a good idea to buy individual volumes based on themes that children would enjoy.
Except for 'Changes in Weather', which deals with diaries, 'Treasures of the Sea', which covers stories about ocean exploration and the Titanic, and 'The Discovery of Hidden Treasures', which deals with artifacts from the Maya and Egyptian civilizations, all other volumes cover the world of animals.
This pop-up book is fascinating enough for 4-5 year-olds, but the text content is more suitable for lower elementary school students. Many animal names, such as 'Black-crowned Night Heron' and 'Common Gallinule', may be unfamiliar to adults.
If a child cannot read, books featuring familiar animals like 'Playful Panda', 'The Story of Baby Dinosaurs', and 'The Zoo Story' are recommended. For children who can read independently, books that introduce topics in more detail, such as 'Animal Camouflage' and 'Animals of the Desert', are recommended.
* The eagle flies out of the book - Nature Exploration (20 volumes)
This is a pop-up picture book series that animal-loving children will love. Every time you turn the page, baby dinosaurs pop out, sea lions leap up, fearsome eagles soar, and lizards flick their tongues.
The structure is simple. Each book introduces the ecology of one type of animal or explains nature by setting themes such as 'Treasures of the Sea', 'Animal Camouflage', and 'Animals of the Desert'. Starting with baby dinosaurs, you can meet various animals living around the world, including lions, pandas, monkeys, whales, foxes, woodpeckers, barn swallows, leafcutter butterflies, poison dart frogs, mangrove snakes, and mudskippers.
Another advantage is that small pop-ups are hidden within large pop-ups, allowing children to operate them themselves while learning about animal ecology. If a father reads and plays with one book a day for just 10 minutes, the effect will be outstanding.
This is a pop-up book where pictures jump out when opened. 'Mysterious Sea Creatures', 'Changes in Weather', 'Jungle Exploration', and 20 volumes. When each volume is opened, astonishing and intricate landscapes, such as cacti in the desert, coral reefs in the sea, and trees in the jungle where monkeys play, spring up, eliciting gasps of amazement.
As expected from a book created by National Geographic, which boasts global authority in nature documentaries, it is accurate and factual.
