The Code Name series that parents end up reading right along with their kids!! Before Code Name H even hit the shelves, most of the readers who called the publisher were fathers of elementary school kids. They'd call to say that their child was enjoying the book so much that they got curious, picked it up to see what all the fuss was about, and ended up completely hooked themselves — and then, of course, they wanted to know when the next book was coming out. The Code Name series has won over not just moms and kids, but dads too. Starting with Code Name X in July 2017, followed by Code Name K in October of the same year, Code Name V in May 2018, Code Name R in September 2018, and now the fifth installment, Code Name H, in March 2019 — the series keeps building its devoted readership and has become one of those bestsellers fans eagerly wait for. Proving just how popular it's become, the Code Name series recently had its rights exported to China, and a musical adaptation has also been confirmed. To celebrate the release of Code Name H, a variety of fun events are planned. Young fans of the series can join the 'Kids' Spy Squad,' completing missions to earn cool prize items, with a special chance to even have their name appear in a future book. There's also a fun lecture and activity event planned for May with author Kang Kyung-soo. "I underestimated this as 'just a kids' book,' but it's genuinely thrilling! I was so happy to see one of my favorite old pop songs mentioned. I've lost count of how many times I've reread this book! No wonder it's become so popular by word of mouth!" — Reader review ▶ A New Character Arrives! One of the biggest draws of the Code Name series is its cast of wonderfully quirky, distinctive characters. This time, a new figure named 'Code Name H' steals the spotlight. With looks reminiscent of Sherlock Holmes, Code Name H is a legendary MSG agent known for sharp deduction and keen intuition. Having completed countless successful missions, he's now nearing retirement — yet he still proves his skills haven't dulled a bit. But behind that impressive reputation lies a stubborn old man who uses his artificial joint surgery as an excuse to get piggyback rides from Parang, and who calls Parang whatever name pops into his head — 'Purangi,' 'Norangi,' 'Juhwangi,' and so on. He also occasionally jumps to some wildly off-base conclusions. What makes it even funnier is that this short, cranky Code Name H turns out to be... a walrus! It's amazing how the author manages to create such lovable, impossible-to-hate characters in every single book. ▶ A Tightly Woven Plot That Ties Together Tangled Mysteries This time, Kang Parang's mission is to accompany Code Name H to Switzerland as his personal assistant. But the moment they board the train to Switzerland, they encounter Dr. Zircov collapsed and bleeding, and soon learn about a zombie virus, its antidote, and a Russian agent hunting the doctor. In an instant, the train is overrun with zombies, and amid the chaos, Code Name H launches into a tense 'deduction game' to track down the Russian agent. But even after the agent is found, the antidote remains missing. Rather than letting the story end as a simple, single-thread mystery, the author weaves in Code Name H's hidden past, introducing a culprit no one saw coming: 'Mr. M.' Thanks to the author's skillful structuring — tightly interlacing two seemingly unrelated cases — the story becomes richer and the fun doubles. ▶ Learning the Wisdom of a Mentor Who's 'Been There' Through his many missions, Parang has learned so much and grown steadily as a spy. But he still has plenty of room to grow. Author Kang Kyung-soo reveals that what Parang truly needs to become a great spy is 'experience' and 'wisdom' — and that Code Name H, with his wealth of both, is exactly the kind of mentor who can guide him. It's a meaningful scene in an age when slang mocking the elderly has become common among kids. At first, Parang finds Code Name H's crankiness and stubbornness annoying and off-putting. But as he witnesses H's seasoned deduction skills in tracking down the Russian agent, and his wisdom in finding a way out during the train derailment crisis, Parang comes to genuinely admire him. And so Pa...
