When people visit Woori Church and meet Pastor Kim, they find themselves shedding the masks of hypocrisy, pretense, and reputation, and revealing their true selves. People on the verge of running away from home, going bankrupt, divorcing, or even taking their own lives openly confess their true condition, and as they help scrub away each other's pain, they experience relief and begin the process of healing. This is what has come to be known as 'Kim Yang-jae style QT ministry.' Such a ministry is possible because Pastor Kim herself once appeared graceful and happy on the outside, while inwardly she had repeatedly considered divorce and even attempted suicide — a woman deeply bruised within. But in circumstances she could not escape, hardship became her subject, the Bible became her textbook, and the Holy Spirit became her teacher, and at last God's Word began to speak to her. As her life began to be interpreted through Scripture, she daily searched God's Word for her own faults and sins, exposing her shame before others and sharing her suffering with tears. In turn, one by one, people began to reveal their own long-hidden pain and shame, and this mutual openness became medicine that brought healing to one another. Woori Church, which serves as a hospital and refuge for suffering people fulfilling the true mission of the church in this age, has grown from its founding to over 7,000 members in just nine years, spread by word of mouth such as 'You cry when you hear the sermons there' and 'It's a church where suffering is never something to be ashamed of.' Through its unique style of shared QT confession and reflection, it has cultivated many devoted followers of Kim Yang-jae-style teaching of God's Word. The central teachings Pastor Kim Yang-jae emphasizes in her QT-style preaching are as follows: First, 'The purpose of life is not happiness but holiness.' Second, 'Every human being is 100% a sinner.' Third, 'God is always right.' Fourth, 'Suffering is a blessing in disguise.' These teachings continue to produce holy warriors of the gospel who apply God's Word deeply to their daily lives rather than keeping faith and life separate. Pastor Kim Yang-jae continues to be used faithfully and devotedly in this precious ministry. Pastor Kim Yang-jae comes from a fourth-generation Christian family. She majored in piano at Seoul National University's College of Music and taught at Seoul Arts High School and Chongshin University. She graduated from Baekseok University's Graduate School of Theology (M.Div.) and currently serves as the head of the QT Mission Society and the senior pastor of Woori Church.
