A picture book that captures the journey of a child, who lives alone with her father, as she comes to accept a new family. Katy lives a quiet life with just her father. Then one day, Mrs. Mary and her son Sean come to visit Katy's house. Before long, the two end up moving in and living together with Katy and her father. Unlike Katy, who feels uncomfortable with Mary and Sean freely crossing into her personal space, her father simply accepts it as natural. All of this feels strange and bewildering to Katy. Because of Katy's cold, dismissive attitude, Mary and Sean eventually leave the house. Katy feels a brief moment of relief, but soon finds herself feeling empty without them.
