Known for his delicate and luminous artwork, he has won great acclaim, including the 2004 Baeksang Publishing Culture Award for the picture book Going to Meet Mom. His illustrations have appeared in numerous books, including Echo, Jumong: The Hero Who Founded Goguryeo, The Wildflower Child, Spring in My Hometown, The House That Keeps Company with Books, and The Firefly That Couldn't Fly. Dong-sung Kim, who majored in Oriental Painting as an undergraduate at Hongik University, has devoted himself to creating a visionary, dreamy ink-painting style.
