Using 90,000 volts of electricity, negatively charged paint is sprayed in a fine mist. When the car body is given a positive charge, it attracts only the paint, resulting in an even coat of color across the surface. This technique is called electrostatic painting, and it's also used in many home appliances.

Profile: Born in 1926 in Toyohashi, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, he graduated from the Department of Physics at the University of Tokyo and completed his graduate studies there. He continued his studies at the University of Rochester and conducted research at the University of Chicago before returning to Japan to become a professor at the University of Tokyo's Faculty of Science. In 2001, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for his contributions to the detection of cosmic neutrinos. By observing the elementary particles known as neutrinos, he pioneered the field of 'neutrino astronomy,' helping to unravel the mysteries of supernovae and the sun.
